Located in Jodhpur, Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts in the country. It is located at the top of a 410 feet elevated hill and guarded by huge walls. The fort encloses a museum now which exhibits various belongings of the royals. The palace was built by Rao Jodha in 1459. The Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts built in India. Seven gates have to be crossed for reaching the fort. There are various marks visible still now which is an imprint of the various battles fought in the bygone era. One of the palaces in the fort, Moti Mahal, has the royal throne of Jodhpur. At present, the Fort has a museum where all the decorated suites and rooms of the palaces are exhibited along with various paintings, furniture and historic armoury of royal origin. There are Six different galleries in the Mehrangarh Museum: Elephant's howdahs, Palanquins, Daulat Khana, Armoury, Paintings and the Turban Gallery. The museum is one of the most well stocked museums in the state. There is also a national geographical monument and a temple of Chamunda Mataji.
